Vacation Visual Diary: Day 7 Las Vegas!

My first time in Vegas! After about two hours of walking down the strip, I pretty much got the gist of it and I most likely won't be back in this city again unless I have to. It's just not my thing!

The day in Vegas went by pretty fast, we made sure we watched the Bellagio fountain show and ate at the Wynn buffet. We ended the night watching "La Reve" which was also at the Wynn and I highly recommend it if you love acrobatic shows!

Throwback Thursday: Sailors' Snug Harbor, Staten Island

For those that don't know, Staten Island has a botanical garden that has a Chinese Scholar garden that is open to the public for a fee. I went there back in 2009 when I was trying to be a tourist in my own city. Not many people want to go to Staten Island, but if you ever find yourself taking that free ferry over, go check out the garden!

Vacation Visual Diary - Day 6 Angel's Landing and Canyon Overlook hikes

Aside from the day at Antelope Canyon, this was another day that I was looking forward to with excitement and probably fear. This day we were going to hike Angel's Landing which is very steep and at some points, very narrow. For those that don't know, I am actually afraid of heights and doing this was going to take a lot of guts on my part. There were definitely some spots that had only 2 feet of space and from there it was a straight drop down to the bottom.

The view from up top was absolutely amazing even though we got there in the middle of the day so the sun was very harsh. We made do with we were given when it came to photos but it was all about the hiking experience rather than the photos when you are up at the top!

After Angel's Landing we headed over to Canyon Overlook point where we sat and waited for sunset. This day left me wanting more out of Zion and we will be back in the very near future.

Previous days:

Day 5: Utah!
Day 4: Antelope Canyon, Lake Powell
Day 3 - On the road, Horseshoe bend and a failed meteor shower =(
Day 2 - Grand Canyon
Day 1 - Airport + Hoover dam

Throwback Thursday: Chicago 2013

I have written about Chicago before but I realized I didn't post some of my photos that I took during my quick trip there. One of the nights in the city, I realized that my hotel was one block away from the Adams & Wabash train station. Before I went to Chicago, I looked up photos of the city and saw a few that were taken at an overpass of some train stations so I knew I had to get that too.

The only thing I wish I would have done was go back during the day!

Aside from the train stations, I also walked to the Great Lawn which is right next to the "Bean". It's not our Central Park but its still beautiful at night.

Vacation Visual Diary - Day 5 Utah!

This day we left Arizona and headed towards Zion. On our way there, we stopped by a hike along the way called the "Toadstools" which were rock formations that looked like mushrooms! We stayed there for a few hours, taking photos and enjoying the area the warmer weather we were having.

We left the toadstools around midday and drove the rest of the way to Zion National Park where we were in absolute awe. We drove through the scenic road that led us through the canyon where we saw deer run across the road.

Previous days:
Day 4: Antelope Canyon, Lake Powell
Day 3 - On the road, Horseshoe bend and a failed meteor shower =(
Day 2 - Grand Canyon
Day 1 - Airport + Hoover dam

Throwback Thursday: Penang, Malaysia 2012

Near the end of our Malaysia trip, we made our way to Penang to visit some family. We stay at the Gurney Resort Hotel which had amazing panoramic views of the city. The weather was not full cooperating with periods of heavy rainfall but in between we were able to go eat at the open air hawker centers and walk along the waterfront.

If New Yorkers want to complain about how dirty the East or Hudson rivers are, they should really take a look at the waterfront at Penang. While walking, we saw a lot of garbage that was floating along the side and at low tide, it was pretty bad.

Aside from the water, the food there was amazing. The area has a good mix of traditional Malay, Chinese, Indian and Peranakan dishes. Thankfully the portions are pretty small so you can try as many dishes you would like!

Tavola for two : Floral potluck!

Taking a break and posting something else outside of my photos from my last vacation.!

Last month, I got together with Alaina from Tavola for two who hosted a cute little floral potluck at QNS Collective with friends. Everyone who attended was asked to bring a pumpkin that was going to be used to create a floral centerpiece for the table. The end result was absolutely amazing and playing with flowers prove that you don't need to have a lot of experience to make beautiful floral centerpieces!

She also had several vendors provide services which included flowers, decorations, calligraphy, and even the place settings that were made out of recycled materials. All of the vendors are listed at the bottom of this post so go check them out if you are interested in them =).

Alaina will also have more of these events so go check out her website and keep up with her blog!
